The Reiki Principles

Just for today, I will live the attitude of gratitude
Just for today, I will not worry
Just for today, I will not anger,
Just for today, I will do my work honestly,
Just for today, I will show love and respect for every living thing.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a subtle yet effective form of energy healing originating from Japan in the late 20th century. The technique involves a “laying of the hands” in which the hands are held just above the body or gently touching the client as the practitioner transmits Universal life energy to the recipient.  A recipient of Reiki might feel a warming sensation or a tingling during the session.

Reiki is based on the idea that Universal life force energy (QI) is flowing through the body at all times creating harmony both inside and out.  At times, this energy gets blocked as a result of illness, physical strain or emotional stress which can cause stagnation in the whole system.  During a Reiki session and through deep relaxation the recipient is brought back into balance creating an environment of harmony and equilibrium throughout the bodies energy field.A Reiki session helps to create deep relaxation which eases tension and stress and aids in the healing process.  Reiki is not a cure for disease or illness, but it does assist the body in creating an environment that facilitates healing on the  physical, mental and emotional level.  It is a great tool to complement traditional medicine and other wellness techniques.

Who is Reiki for?

Many use Reiki to bring balance to their systems and to support overall wellness and stress reduction.
In addition, It is also used to complement treatment for a wide range of health conditions such as:
Cancer
Heart Disease
Anxiety
Depression
Chronic Pain
Infertility
ADD/ADHD
Autism/Developmental Delays
Irritable Bowel System
Fatigue

What to expect in a session:

A Reiki session will generally begin with a discussion where the client will have the opportunity to discuss any particular problem areas or issues that they are experiencing and ask any questions that they may have. The client will then be asked to rest comfortably on the massage table on their back with their shoes off.   A Reiki session is done fully clothed although it is suggested that the client wear loose fitting comfortable clothing that is not binding or restrictive.  Sessions generally alternate between practitioners applying a light touch and a hands-off technique where the practitioner holds their hands slightly above your body.   As the session proceeds, the Reiki practitioner will move around the body applying the specific Reiki hand positions.  As a client you are asked to lay back, relax and enjoy the blissful relaxation.
