This month’s free Life Inspired Class will be a Braided Towel Pilates Mat Class taught by Shelley Oglesby. Shelley’s Braided Towel Mat class will incorporate the braided towel prop into a beginner friendly Pilates mat class.  The braided towel was created by one of Joseph Pilates students Ron Fletcher as a way to enhance the Pilates work.  The 3 foot braided towel can be used in a variety of ways to help clients activate the correct muscles so they can build uniform strength in their body.  
 
Our top 3 reasons for loving the braided towel as a Pilates Mat prop:
 
1.  Shoulder awareness:  If you are like the rest of the world and tend to hold tension and tightness in your neck and shoulders, this class will change you!  You’ll learn how to activate the muscles that need to be strengthened to create more balance in your shoulders and upper back and you’ll leave class feeling like you have more mobility and ease in your shoulders!
 
2.  Support and connection: You’ll learn how to use the towel in ways that help the rest of your body move better! You’ll find yourself engaging your deep abdominal muscles more and being able to gain more movement in your spine with the support of the towel.

December Life Inspired: Movement for Back Health Class

 

Sunday, December 9 at 3 pm with Carey Sadler

This Pilates inspired movement class will combine stretching, release work using small therapy balls and traditional Pilates exercises. We’ll explore how movement can be used as a self care tool to help you feel better in your body and specifically your back. You’ll leave class feeling less stiff, more mobile, and with a new understanding of how you can use movement to empower how your back and body to feel on a regular basis! No Pilates experience is necessary and beginners are welcome!  This is a free Life Inspired community class!

Celebrate Purple Friday November Life Inspired: Roll, Release and Relax Class

Need to relax after the holiday? Our free Roll, Release, and Relax class is the perfect way to destress and pamper yourself!

You’ll spend all 50 minutes of this class using specialized therapy balls to do self massage throughout your entire body. These self massage techniques are designed to release tight muscles and fascial adhesions, releasing tensions and leaving you feeling more mobile throughout your entire body. This practice is great for anyone…from those who want to combat tightness due to chronic sitting to athletes wanting balance out their training time and prevent injuries. Balls are provided by the studio. No experience necessary!

October Life Inspired: Mindful Mat with Jane

 

 

 

Life Inspired is our free monthly community event! This month’s class is Mindful Mat Pilates with Jane. Mindful Mat Pilates is a class focused on learning the basic Pilates Mat exercises in your body, with an emphasis on the Pilates principles of control, breath, centering and concentration. You’ll learn to adjust exercises to your individual body allowing you to achieve more strength, balance and mobility in your body.

If you are brand new to Pilates you’ll love this class as a way to learn the basics and experience how great Pilates can feel in your body. Those with Pilates experience will enjoy experiencing how focusing on the mindfulness of each exercise can help you get even more out of each exercise. You’ll walk out of class feeling refreshed, refocused and amazing in your body!
