Curious About Strength Training? This Intro Session Is the Perfect Place to Start
Most women know that strength training is important. But knowing it’s important and knowing where to begin are two very different things.
Maybe you’ve wondered:
- Am I doing the exercises correctly?
- How heavy should the weights be?
- What if I do something wrong and hurt myself?
If you’ve had those thoughts, you’re not alone. In fact, they’re one of the most common reasons people delay starting a strength routine.
That’s exactly why we created our Intro to Strength Training small group session at Rivercity Pilates.
A Safe, Supportive Place to Learn
On the first Wednesday of every month at 10am, instructor Colleen leads a small group introduction to the strength training sessions we offer at Rivercity Pilates.
This session is intentionally small — no more than 5 participants — so you receive individual attention and guidance.
During the session, Colleen will walk you through:
✔ The types of exercises we use in our strength training sessions
✔ Proper form so you can move safely and effectively
✔ How to choose the right weight and intensity
✔ Modifications and alternatives so exercises work for your body
You’ll have the opportunity to try several exercises yourself, ask questions, and experience what strength training feels like in a supportive environment.
Learn From an Experienced Instructor
Colleen brings both expertise and a calm, encouraging teaching style to every session. Rather than pushing you through a workout, she focuses on helping you understand the movements, feel confident in your form, and learn how strength training can support your body long term.
Our goal isn’t to make you exhausted — it’s to help you build strength in a way that feels sustainable and empowering.

The Intro to Strength Training session is $25, and it’s designed to help you decide whether strength training at Rivercity Pilates feels like the right fit for you.
At the end of the session, you’ll have a much clearer understanding of:
- How our strength sessions work
- Whether this style of training feels good in your body
- If it’s something you’d like to continue
There’s no high-pressure sales conversation — just the opportunity to learn, move, and explore something new.
