Beginning Pilates Reformer Workshop  at Rivercity Pilates on August 6.

The Pilates Reformer was designed by Joseph Pilates as an all in one piece of exercise equipment that could be used to train the entire body creating balanced strength and flexibility.

The magic of the reformer happens when you mindfully practice exercises on the equipment that are specifically designed to help you train your body. 

The spring based Reformer gives the user the perfect amount of assist and resistance and allows the user to get more out of each exercise they practice. Since there are various spring tensions you can use for each exercise it is extremely important to have an experienced teacher who can adjust the spring tension for your body and teach you how to get the most out of each exercise!

We have the perfect way for you to try the Pilates Reformer, and see if it’s for you. Join us for our Beginning Pilates Reformer Workshop on August 6 at 1:30!

In this 90 minute workshop you’ll get a guided tour of the Pilates Reformer that includes safety and tips for beginners. You’ll be introduced to basic Pilates Reformer exercises and learn how to practice the basic Pilates Reformer exercises in your body in a non intimidating atmosphere.   

This is a great workshop for anyone who is new to Pilates or new to practicing Pilates using the Pilates reformer.

  • A comfortable atmosphere to try basic movements on the Pilates Reformer in your body and have the guidance of a teacher to help you figure out the best way to do each exercise.

Big Ball Pilates Mat with Kathryn

Kathryn is back teaching for us this summer and she’s offering a small group Pilates Mat session that incorporates the Big Exercise Ball! This small group will incorporate the Big Exercise Ball into the Pilates Mat exercises for a fun twist on the traditional Pilates Mat exercises!  

Why practice Pilates with the Big Ball?

  • Fun – adding a big ball to your Pilates Mat workouts will make you smile we promise!
  • Balance – The big ball challenges our body to improve its balance skills by adding instability to each exercise. You’ll love how the ball gives you feedback and helps you improve your balance skills!
  • Strength – The Big Ball is an especially great prop for adding extra strengthening into your Pilates Mat practice.  You’ll learn lots of great variations that help you improve your overall strength!

At the beginning of the year I was checking in with all of our Rivercity Pilates staff to see if they had any ideas about new offerings for 2023 and oh I wish you could have been a fly on the wall for some of the coversations I had!

I was reminded how grateful I am to have such an amazing, talented passionate group of teachers at RCP who want more than anything to share their insight and knowledge with others so they can help others live their best life. 

A quick example of this was my conversation with Shannon.  She said I would really love to offer small group strength training sessions if you think it would work?

The older I get the more I have realized the absolute necessity of regular strength training to my movement practice.   I was looking at a statistic that said 50% of women over 50 will break a bone due to osteoporosis! Many of those women end up not being able to go back to their normal life activities because of the injury! 

I would love to be able to offer small group strength training simply using hand weights, bands, the magic circle and just body weight exercises.

I just want to help women realize that they can easily add in strength training to their life and it can make a big difference in how how they feel and function as they age!”

So needless to say…Shannon is going to be offering small group strength training twice a week starting in February!

These sessions will meet on Tuesdays at 6 pm and Saturdays at 10 am.  Sessions will be priced the same as our small group Pilates Mat and small group Yoga sessions.

For me, November is my gratitude month. Gratitude is something I am mindful of practicing in my life all the time, but during November I give it some extra special attention! 

You know I like themes!   I use them in group classes, in private sessions, and I also like to give my months a theme!   One of the many things that I’m grateful this November for is you and all the others in our fabulous RCP community!

We have a playlist called Anytime Virtual Classes and each week we’ll be adding more classes with your favorite teachers that you’ll have access to anytime!
